Milonguero Milonga
The traditional Saturday milonga in Heidelberg—fueled by the close embrace

When: The 4th Saturday of the month, 8:30 p.m. – open end (approximate end time: 1:30 a.m.)
Location: Intango – Tango Center Heidelberg, Mary-Somerville-Platz 5, 69214 Heidelberg
Music: traditional (2 to 3 non-tandas upon request), rotating DJs
Pre-event Workshop with Emile and Simge
Our monthly Milonguero Milonga is dedicated to the classic milonguero style: an evening of close embrace, with a clear flow of movement, precise spatial orientation, and musical sensitivity—just as is required at well-attended milongas.
Both the Milonguero embrace and the closed Salon embrace are not only welcome but deliberately shape the atmosphere of this evening.
5 Wishes for the Milonguero Milonga:
1. Dance the Milonguero style—or give it a try. Close embrace is the order of the night!
2. Be aware of the space.
Still unsure? Then dance straight ahead in your lane. Dancers who are aware of the space can also turn and change lanes.
3. Pay attention to the tempo of the music and the ronda.
Fast music = dance fluidly. Slow songs = don’t cut in front of others. If the tempo is fast in a rhythmic piece but you linger in the same spot for half a minute to really savor the melody, you’ll cause a backup behind you and annoy people. The reverse is also true: if you’re moving too fast during a slow, melodic piece, you’ll start passing people and weaving from lane to lane. Your fellow dancers don’t like that either.
4. Be flexible; dance with “shock absorbers.” If you ever collide, your flexible body will cushion the impact.
5. Expand your repertoire. Directional change elements help you dodge obstacles and dance smoothly.
