We invite you to an exceptional tango weekend in Heidelberg – a rare opportunity to visit the enchanting city while experiencing three world-class tango orchestras live on stage in one single weekend.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, you will experience
Romantica Milonguera – the legendary orchestra from Buenos Aires
La Juan D’Arienzo – the spectacular 10-men orchestra
El Cachivache Orkesta – the raw, high-energy Tango Punk orchestra
Around these concerts, our DJs shape a vibrant weekend with afternoon and evening milongas. The program is complemented by the workshop-format “Milonguero-Nuevo for Social Dancefloors” with Emile Sansour and Simge Yüz, focused on social dance, musicality, and floor awareness.
Expect a true musical firework of tango in Heidelberg.

WORKSHOPS
Milonguero-Nuevo for Social Dance Floors
During the Heidelberg Live Weekend, we offer five workshops with Emile Sansour and Simge Yüz.
These workshops cover the Milonguero-Nuevo style: maintaining the close embrace while using Nuevo movements. All workshops focus on practical application for social dancing.
Participants may book the full workshop series or individual workshops.
Workshop 1
Can you keep the Tempo?
Friday, May 22 | 17:45–19:00
This workshop focuses on dancing to fast, driving music such as D’Arienzo. We work with quick weight changes and sharp footwork in close embrace. The goal is to hit musical accents while keeping the upper body stable.
Workshop 2
Constant Movement in Vals
Saturday, May 23 | 11:30–12:45
This workshop focuses on continuous turns and circular flow. We work with pivots and rotations (giros, enrosques, and colgadas) supported by an elastic embrace. The goal is to move effortlessly, even in limited space.
Workshop 3
Dancing to El Cachivache
Saturday, May 23 | 12:45–14:00
This workshop focuses on dancing to powerful, high-energy music such as El Cachivache. We work with grounding, sudden stops, and pauses. The goal is to transform high energy into controlled movement rather than speed alone.
Workshop 4
How we Dance to the Melody
Sunday, May 24 | 11:30–12:45
This workshop focuses on dancing when there is no clear walking beat. We work with suspension and slow-motion movement to follow melody and phrasing. This supports adaptability when dancing in limited space.
Workshop 5
Nuevo in Close Embrace
Sunday, May 24 | 12:45–14:00
This workshop focuses on integrating Nuevo elements without losing the close embrace. We work with ganchos and direction changes, emphasizing internal space and elasticity within the embrace.

If you cannot attend all milongas, feel free to share the pass with another tango dancer.
